Wisdom from Proverbs
Proverbs 18: 1-2
1 "He who separates himself seeks his own desire,
He quarrels (literally, 'breaks out') against all sound wisdom."
2 "A fool does not delight in understanding,
But only in revealing his own mind."
I'm trying to read all of Prov. 18 this morning, but I can't get past the above two verses. They provide timeless wisdom and caution against rebelling against God, against insisting on our own way, against the grave dangers of pride, and refusing to be accountable to anyone.
But positively stated, both verses reveal the secret to true life; heeding God's liberating Word, considering others as more important than ourselves, listening, humility, and honoring others.
Every day, every decision, every conversation offers us a choice. To be given free will by God is an awesome thing, but it's also a very sober responsibility.
Wisdom shouts in the street...
