1 Chronicles 5: 18- 21

1 Chronicles 5:18-21

“18 The sons of Reuben, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, consisting of valiant men, men who carried shield and sword and shot with a bow and were skillful in battle, totaled 44,760 who went to war. 19 They made war against the Hagrites, Jetur, Naphish, and Nodab. 20 They were helped against them, and the Hagrites and all who were with them were handed over to them; for they cried out to God in the battle, and He answered their prayers because they trusted in Him. 21 They took away their livestock: their fifty thousand camels, 250,000 sheep, and two thousand donkeys; and a hundred thousand people.”

A great and important lesson to learn about applying the OT in a spiritual warfare context comes from 1 Chronicles 5:18- 21;

If these men needed faith to overcome enemies they could see- - despite their own courage and skill - - how much more do we need Faith to win against unseen, demonic enemies?

And we can plunder the Demonic realm through our obedience by using the sword of the spirit and through our influence of others, ministering to them, stirring and setting them free through the awesome power of the word of God.

On the other hand, we also must take heed to vv. 25- 26 and how easy it is to compromise after success or because of success, and let our guard down and buy into worldliness and ultimately stray from God!

Let us put our trust in God today and every day!

“For they cried out to God in the battle. He answered their prayers because they trusted in Him…”
