Pastor Brad Abley - Kenya Mission’s Trip: DAY THREE

Ebenezer Children’s Home - Siaya, Kenya

Pastor Brad writes:

“Today was “Thrilling and Heartbreaking!” Arguably, my personal efforts to raise funds for Ebenezer Children's Home, may prove to be the most important part of this two-week ministry trip. I certainly didn't see this coming…

  • Due to protests and civil unrest in Siaya, some of ministry to the local Pastors has been cancelled; hence I’m spending more time with the Orphans. The guest house where I’m staying, is on the same grounds as the Orphanage!

Through the generous donation of some dear friends -- a couple that I pastored back in San Jose -- we were able to get the orphans 31 new mattresses and many beautiful blankets.

It was thrilling to watch the genuine rejoicing over such a simple gift. I hadn't planned to go into the boys and girls dormitories; but I asked Paul Pastor to show me what the old mattresses look like and these pictures don't even do it justice.

I wasn't sure whether I was going to throw up or break down in tears, seeing what they used to sleep on... Photos below are the old mattress and bedding!”

“This orphanage is run so extremely well and the children are so greatly cared for; but outside funding sources are really only a handful of people. Some donate intermittently!” Pastor Brad Abley
