Time-honored and biblical means in seeking God
Pastor Brad shares some Biblical Application “nuggets” from two of his favorite authors:
“Two simple, time-honored, and biblical means in seeking God's will on a matter; the first comes from John Stott and the second from J.I. Packer:
First, go to the Word of God and stay in it. Stott writes, “Today, we can be certain and confident that God speaks through what he has already spoken"
Second, having done so, pay careful attention to Packer's warning: "The Spirit leads within the limits which the Word sets, not beyond them…’ He guideth me in the paths of righteousness – but not anywhere else"
John Stott, The Contemporary Christian: An Urgent Plea for Double Listening (Leicester: Inter-Varsity Press, 1992), 105.
J.I. Packer, Knowing God (Downers Grove: InterVarsity Press, 1973), 215.
