“Be diligent” — 2 Tim 2:15

"Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth" (2 Tim. 2:15).

Pastor Brad exhorts us to be diligent in interpreting scripture:

“Context – the historical, cultural, and especially literary context (the verse or passage that goes before and after the verse in question) always determines the meaning in every case when interpreting Scripture.

We don't interpret God's Word based on feeling, subjectivity, or what we've been "taught" (see Acts 17:10-11 and how the Bereans responded to Paul's teaching!).

We don't interpret the Bible based on someone's alleged "vision" or claims of Jesus taking them to heaven (regularly found on YouTube), or based upon even a prominent Christian declaring, "God spoke to me and showed me."

We don't interpret Scripture based on "Here's what it means to me," or "Here's what I think it means," either. We must always seek to handle the Word of God accurately, patiently, and in the fear of God.”

Being diligent….

Don’t be afraid to take notes in your bible!
